BLUSTERY WALK

January 15, 2013 Writing 6 Comments

Blustery Walk

I walked along the crest of a hill
On a blustery morning about to rain
Approaching storm greyed the sky
As misty drizzle set my rhythm

From a tree branch high hung a silk string
A spider twirled as wind blew strong
A carpet of brown leaves whirling
Tumbling fleeing flirty ‘catch us if you can’

Dog Escort

Dog Escort

Two dogs, not mine, at my heels,
Followed me, then I followed them.
Morning escort, eight paws in trusty trot
Tails upright, puffing white breath

Rocks Below

The wind in my ears, face tingled cold
The valley below fell to the sea
In the distance waves rushed frothy
Hugged rocks shell-crusted black grey

All the way there and back
In the silence of my home,
Haunting echoes of wind sea
The rain now heavy.

Lovely imagery evoking the essence of the experience. I especially enjoyed the twirling spider, flirty leaves and frothy waves. Looking forward to reading more of your verse.

    Thanks

    • Shanta happy this evoked such lovely feelings for you, even more special as we both love the country. Comments from a creative artist such as you is most welcome.

  2. I love this Poem , and Leela’s descriptive style of writing, literally transported me there, with her on her Morning Walk. It’s full of imagination, and really portrays what she felt accurately. It’s beautiful, poetically worded, the timings and nuances are just right…I love the ending especially, how she took the whole experience home with her ! Yes, you must write more Poetry, and the pictures make them more special and memorable, with a distinct storytelling fashion; I just Loved it, your “Blustery Walk”

    • Thanks, Shona. I know with your encouragement I will write more poems. I have not made too many attempts but was lucky enough to win a competition with one my first poems which has prompted me try to write more. Thanks for your great comments. Will live up to them. I love your observation ‘she took the whole experience home with her.’
